Jonathan Bouchard

CEO, Founder, and Entrepreneur
He/Him · Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Jonathan Bouchard is a Canadian trader and entrepreneur widely recognized for his achievements in financial markets despite not following the conventional academic route. He began trading currencies at the age of 17, relying on self-education and observation to guide his decisions. Within a short time, he earned a reputation for accuracy in market tactics and consistent profitability, later becoming known as “Home Run” after achieving a 15x return during the COVID-19 crisis, a performance that remains a rare milestone. Born in New Brunswick and raised in Montreal, Jonathan entered the trading world with determination and a practical focus. At just 18, he was recruited by Montreal Trading Group, a proprietary firm that entrusted him with $5 million in discretionary capital. There, he specialized in developing and refining complex day trading strategies such as pair trading and market making, while employing tools like dark pools and electronic communication networks. His quantitative modeling efforts helped optimize two of the firm’s most profitable systems. Jonathan’s career expanded further when he joined BMO Financial Group as a stockbroker in 2019, managing portfolios that included ultra-high-net-worth clients with assets surpassing $10 million. He distinguished himself by executing sophisticated derivatives strategies, including iron condors and butterfly spreads. Within his first months, he broke a longstanding sales record by closing $129 million in a single quarter, a figure equating to nearly $300,000 per hour, and ranked third among brokers nationwide. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, while many investors turned defensive, Jonathan identified lucrative opportunities in failed or delayed mergers and acquisitions. By leveraging stock derivatives, he achieved a staggering 15-fold return on investment, solidifying his “Home Run Jonathan” moniker. This bold move underscored his ability to seize unconventional opportunities in the face of global uncertainty, further strengthening his reputation for creativity and resilience under pressure. After securing success in institutional finance, Jonathan turned toward entrepreneurship, founding The Trading Floor in 2024. Designed as both a digital and physical hub, it has grown into one of Quebec’s largest trading communities with over 1,000 students. His programs emphasize positive expectancy models, discipline, and risk management. The initiative also established a physical floor hosting up to 70 traders simultaneously, fostering collaboration and hands-on learning in real-time trading environments. Jo Bouchard also pursued key certifications through the Canadian Securities Institute, including the Canadian Securities Course and a derivatives licensing program. His achievements brought recognition at Montreal Trading Group, where he earned “Trader of the Month” twice, and at BMO Financial Group, where he was named “Employee of the Quarter” twice in under a year. Today, Jonathan continues to combine entrepreneurship, education, and trading innovation, inspiring a new generation of market professionals.
