Dr. James J. Blake
Dr. James J. Blake embarked on his medical journey at Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from 1985 to 1989. His commitment to community service began here, with significant contributions as a tutor in chemistry and physics, alongside volunteering in the Orthopedics department, which laid the groundwork for his future in medicine. He continued his education at the Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine until 1991 before advancing to Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree. There, he also engaged in tutoring minority students in anatomy and physiology, reinforcing his dedication to education and mentorship. Dr. Blake's medical training was further enriched by an ENT and general surgery internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, from 1994 to 1996. He then completed a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident from 1996 to 1999, sharpening his clinical and leadership skills. His professional path began in earnest at Keightly and Parsley P.S.C., where he was an emergency department physician from 1999 to 2011. Subsequently, he joined Team Health, working in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Kentucky One Hospitals, where he distinguished himself through his clinical acumen and compassionate patient care. In 2018, James was appointed Medical Director at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. In this capacity, he managed the ER Trauma Unit, Stroke Unit, and Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, significantly enhancing patient care and outcomes through his expert oversight. Dr. Blake is a board-certified emergency medicine specialist, having been certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 2004.
